How do I join?
Email or phone first and we will arrange when you or your child can join.
When are fees due?
At the beginning of a new term. First session is $10. Deductible from termly fee should you decide to join.
What if I miss a session?
We encourage members to attend if sick because they actually tend to feel better once in session! However, if sessions are missed there is no refund unless you have a medical note explaining severe illness or injury.
Can I join mid term?
Of course. We adjust fees for the remaining weeks of the term.
Can I bring a friend?
We don't encourage the bringing of friends unless the friend is genuinely and passionately interested in performing, if not, it could be an uncomfortable experience for them. So lets just focus on you.
Friends who happen to be on a sleepover can come to session for $10. Only bring them if they can join in with everything.
Parents should arrange to meet with me when their child joins. A medical form needs to be completed.
How do I know how I am doing?
We set performance and personal goals. You are assessed in session for forthcoming roles and you are free to ask anytime how you are doing and how you can improve.
Have you got a Blue Card?
Of course. All assistants have Blue Cards too.
Can I get a lift home from you or another parent?
Only in extreme circumstances will I take students home, and I have to have parental permission. You may arrange lift share with friends in the ensemble with parental permission. Members are not encouraged to take lifts from P plate members.
What can't I bring to session?
Mobile technology is neither seen nor heard at any time. Food, muddy shoes or clothes, pets, cigarettes, alcohol, jewellery and anyone other than yourself, unless by prior arrangement. Food is not permitted to be eaten in the building.
What should I bring?
Bottled water, wear black top and pants, fresh feet and an open mind.
Can I sit and watch a session?
Yes if student is too sick to join in with an injury, not cold or flu like symptoms. No parent observers permitted.
How much are the fees?
Nambour $175 per term Maleny Youth Theatre $145 per term
What if I want to leave?
Firstly, that is actually very, very unusual! Discuss it with me if there is an issue. If you have to go then we would prefer it if you left after your production.
Will I always get a role in productions?
Yes, no-one gets left out.
Can I just do tech work or costume, I don't really like acting?
Techies or costumiers are only required late in rehearsal process, you may be idle a lot of the time doing that area of work so it would be a waste of your termly fee. BUT you can of course design costumes/posters and do some tech work as well as act.
What will I get out of being a member of QSPA?
New friends, a fabulous hobby or career path, encouragement to succeed, an arena in which to freely express yourself without judgement.
Everyone in this company is as nuts as you are. You'll love it!
